Hi guys, sorry for the grim post.

I'm on a field course at Scarborough at the moment, and we were on Robins Hoods bay beach today and there was a DEAD HORSE. Looked like it had been there a while and it had no head =S

Does anyone know how it ended up there? I really hope it hasnt fallen from the cliff =[ and who's job is it to remove it? I hate to think of the poor thing there =[

Oh no, that sounds like a horiffic thing to come across.

Best bet would be RSPCA or council perhaps? Poor creature.

Gosh that can't of been a very nice thing to encounter, did someone go to cover it up? was it near the cliffs or did it look like it had been washed up, was it thin (as in perhaps someone might of dumped it rather than disposing of a dead carcass properly)....sorry I don't suppose you'd have a clue nor would it be the first thing that you'd wonder, must of been a shock for you.

Poor little horse.

It looked like my horse on its side to be honest, which makes me think it might have fallen from the cliff because it wasnt starved or anything. I suppose it could have been washed up but it was a big bugger, i'd say about 14.3 or maybe up to 15.2, and it was practicaly at the cliffs, though i suppose at high tide.......
I wondered whether somene might have dumped it rather than dispose of it properly, but it wasnt skinny.
It had black skin. I REALLY hope nobody is missing a horse =[

Im surprised the poor thing has not been removed. Wonder what happened to it. Not something you see every day is it. Are there not holiday makers on the beach this time of year. arrhhh dont be silly not in this weather, good old british summertime.

havent rung anybody yet because in the middle of a practical but will do later.

Ergh its gross. I really just hope its nobodys baby and its missing =[ xxxxx

Just rang the RSPCA who werent particularly helpful but said they'd go and have a look and sort it out.

Ugh its made me really upset and its so stupid!

We love Robin hoods bay we go there a lot - were you at Boggle Hole?

Kate,

No idea where we were. We parked in a small car park and then walked down some stone steps to the beach. It was about 100 yards to the right of that. Probably about half a mile away from the little village. Right by the cliffs.

I'll update you when I hear back. I keep getting teary about it, which I know is ridiculous! But I'm really missing my horses and my puppy =[ xxxxx

Thats awfull, I have been to Robin hoods bay last 2 years on holiday with my beast and going again in a couple of weeks, very upsetting to hear this news

We had a horse wash up on one of the local beaches last summer. Apparently wearing a bridle (but I think more likely a headcollar). It came in on one tide, went out and then washed back in again. I think the council dealt with it in the end.

Very sad, I never did hear who it belonged to. I guess the sea can take things a long way.
