Following up from yesterday I wanted to see if everyone survived the wind ok? Anyone have any severe damage. At home we lost some trees and our dustbins and up at the yard the summerhouse took off! YO is gutted!
well altho it was pretty windy here my two still got lunged in a pessoa last night! neither of them seemed to mind actually which was good!! Last time i lunged blossy in the wind she spent her whole time bucking and squealing! Archie dosent care what the weathers doing!
No carnage at the yard, and no damage - a few bits of trees in the road, but nothing we couldnt just drive over the top of!!
Wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, one tree down on teh way from station to yard. bit of roof flapping on one of the hay barns but apart from that all was fine. Died down a bit and I lunged Mol's and she was actually pretty good. Perhaps all this wind has desensitised her a bit which can only be good!
I never made it to the yard! I couldn't get there as there was about 4 trees blocking my route and the police made me turn around...grrrr! My yard is so exposed though and right on top of hill so it would have been impossible to ride or lunge even if I had made it! Today I am stuck in bed with temperature and throat infection but still going to go to yard as i'm desperate to see the little man
well we have half the fence down so dogs can only go out on their leads! also a tree down at the front of the house, plus a drain pipe and a few tiles down. our yard survived just a few jumps blown around. the local vets had a near miss, its based at Berkshire College and a tree fell on the office of the stables!!
gosh they are lucky! It was so scary sitting indoors watching the trees bending towards our house! We seriously thought our house was going to be sqaushed!
A few fence panels, the b-b-q lid and a small tree down at home from what I can see...haven't seen the place in daylight ! Didn't get to the yard last night either as it took me 4.5 hours to get home, so hope everything is okay there....it's built in the middle of woods though
No damage at home thankfully and just a few trees down at the yard. Oh and a broken back door where Gin decided to let herself in when she was fed up of the weather!
We lost a bit of fencing and an old plum tree which fell and blocked the drive. It is eerily still here today in East Yorks, not even a breeze. Just ridden and taken dog for a walk and it is lovely. What is it like everywhere else?
The only damage we have is the garden fence is down the whole way along the garden on the right hand side but the posts weren't even in the ground beforehand so it's not a suprise, the dogs think it's great though. A few bits of the electric fence came off in the wind but apart from that the yard is fine.
Oh dear that isn't good. Luckily our yard is fairly sheltered, I am sure there are probablty trees down at the top of the hill and round the x-country course but as that is shut I wouldn't know. The actual yard is in a bit of a dip and didn't seem to be affected. Hope you feel better soon.
We survived but I got stuck on the A12 for 2 1/2 hrs
as was closed due to accident.
Same again today on the M25 - serious accident between J28 & 27. Closed both ways. Eventually police turned us around and drove wrong way down carrigeway to slip road
Geez you must have been going stir crazy. Apparently the news said part of the M11 was shut - a friend of mine works in Hackney and drives back to Epping she decided to try it anyway and it was open! So loads of people had cut through epping high road and apparently it was choccas.
Hope you get home ok.
My yard is surrounded by tree's - is basically in the middle of a wood and was absolutely fine!!
House on the other hand is not - skylight got ripped clean off so we have a gaping great big hole in the roof and also had a huge old apple tree down in the garden - narrowly missing coming through the patio doors!
We got off really well...no damage and just some bits of trees down on the lanes...very lucky! I was so worried about my field shelter too but it was fine.
Well all the horses on our yard stayed in yesterday for their own safety.
My horse ONLY went and crippled herself somehow in her stable. Big lump above the fetlock and some filling in the pastern, and dog lame
The vet came out (not my vet - he was stuck on the M25!!!) and spent 1 1/2 hours investigating with nerve blocks etc. Eventually gave her a shot of bute and she was going to be x-rayed today... but seems to have had a remarkable overnight recovery (touch wood).
Think the silly mare kicked herself. But the irony is that she was in to protect herself! When she's out she wears boots
We lost loads of roof tiles off the garage and stables, the disused barn has also lost a lot of tiles and guttering, ive spent most of the afternoon talking to builders and cleaning up. We really seemed to take a battering here yesterday!!
Hi * we seem to have got away with a lot. 4 trees down in YO garden - they were really fed up! Could not get to yard usual way as two massive trees blocked the road and police were blocking the way! Isn't it amazing how the weather can disrupt this country so easily, now lets wait for the snow and ice!
