You CAN'T buy a sound, ridden horse with no problems for £995 - work down from there and figure out what they're like. Frankly, most of these will be diverted from the slaughter house in hope of a mug paying more than meat money! (Or they're nicked!)

Have heard unsubstantiated rumours that they are diverted from the slaughterhouse. Nice horses some of them, or were when they were sound.
Thats if its the people that used to advertise in H&H (maybe still do) with a group of horses being held on halters?

Avoid, avoid......

Many years ago I used to have a field next door to his yard - everything he has is rubbish - except maybe some of the youngsters.

Wonder how they are still in business with the introduction of passports though?

its a mixed bunch if you have the money to take the risk then i would say go and look but you will have to hardne your heart! In truth we picked up 2 from there about a year ago and one has a passport and they other came with a vet sign passport form in order for us to get one for her.
It really depends what your looking, ive only ever looked if we have been near by and passing probably wouldnt travel down just to go there.

I have had one from him - one of the nicest, sweetest horses Ive owned but it took a very long time to get him looking better, and he had serious issues with being bridled. For £900 I knew exactly what I was getting and was prepared to take a gamble. If you visit, make sure you are prepared for some unpleasant sights

This is what I bought.

He turned out alright - he was bought as a hack and he carried out his job brilliantly (he was never going to win anything but we weren't looking for anything special!)

What a lovely job you did on your chap. You can see the clear difference in his eye from the first two to the second two pics.

Thats Paddy Toms place in Dartford - Be very wary.
Had several friends buy from there.
One got a fabulous Connie - total angel, - another got a gorgeous heavy cob mare aged 3 , super horse but was in foal!! Turned out lovely though.
Another bought around 3 from there and our yard went down with Strangles, and one of the horses was a fabulous looking Irish hunter type that was a monster, poor creature with terrible behavioural issues.
I ve been for a look around, be prepared for some very sad sights. Take someone with you who is top class rider and someone really good on ageing horses and veterinary stuff.
Many are in teens and twenties, or unbroken babies I know I am good on teeth.

There are some lovely horses just looking for a second or third chance in life, and yes I believe too, these horses syphoned off from the slaughter houses out from Ireland on route to the continent.
I was in tears when I went there, so many lovely old hunter types. You can get a good cheap `un for sure if you are careful and know your stuff.

Buyer beware though
