hi
got a new horse to replace the mental and agressive warmblood. new horse seems lovely but now i'm worrying that he is too big! he's 15.2 IDxTB and I'm 7 1/2 st and 5'3" he is very sweet at the moment but after the last horse went so agressive I'm worrying about the new boy.

yes by a different vet
the vet really liked him and he behaved like an angel during the vetting. apparently the vet was very impressed with his paces. i was too upset by the dealer to attend but my husband went along and had to lead the horse out, which he hasn't done since he was about 10!

if you go about the horse worrying your goign to make it panic. Relax and be calm and take some bacj remedy if you must. you will be fine and you will enjoy your new horse.

Would love to see some pics

yes, in the school and out hacking. i sent someone else to try him as didn't really have a choice as either swap or be attacked for three months while dragging the case through court!
I've since schooled him and hacked him out, he was lovely and even managed a noisy motorbike with a little reassurance!
he is a little scared of fillers and i was wondering if it would help to leave them in his field or just tackle them when in the school

it's amazing as i keep expecting to be kicked or bitten but he's a gent!

Leave everything you feel could possibly spook him in the field and in the arena. You dont need to use anything be it filler, upright, pole, bucket, umbrella or whatever, just leave them lying about and work round them when you school.

When it comes to baby or spooky horses, a tidy arena is the worse thing you can have!

Good luck with your new horse.

So pleased you have a nice sane horse at last!

You are bound to be a bit wary after the last one, do you know what has happened to him?

AS for being too big, Im 5ft 5 and about 8 stones and ride a 16.2 warmblood, and a 17.2hh ID x WB/TB.
Its all about the horse and you, he sounds like a real gent Im sure in a few weeks you wont be worried at all!

Truly size doesn't come into it with a nice horse!
CCJ rode Minstrel who was a 16.3hh heavyweight round his first experience of XC and he was fine. She looked pretty silly and a professional eventer laughed his socks off at her before they started, but ate his words when her horse never turned his head and his refused loads of times..
15.2 hh is not very big and you will be fine. This sounds a nice straight horse, get some instructional help which is vital with a new horse and you will soon feel confident.

You had a nasty experience but now that is sorted out & you have a different horse. You must put that all behind you & get on with the new one. I know it's difficult but try not to worry about something which hasn't happened...& is likely never to happen, it's pointless. As for the size of your horse, it isn't big it should be about right for you. You say this horse is sweet so enjoy, forget about your previous experience & enjoy.

Aww I really hope this one works out perfectly. He sounds great so don't fret about what might happen, just enjoy what is happening.

If the horse has manners it doesnt matter as much

Pickle is 17.1hh I am 5ft 7. To lead and handle he is a true gentlemen I find my sisters 15.1hh tb x 3 times as hard to handle has pickle!

When I first found out me and dad were going to share a horse I thought it would be too much but after a while I got used to it.

Good luck hope everything works out well

I had a 15.2 saddlebred at 11 so don't worry you'll be fine.

Just get on, enjoy it and be confident....really hope this works out for you xx
