Has anyone had any good experiences buying from dealers in the East of England. I know of a few names but I don't know if they're reputable. We have just had to have our horse put down due to inoperable kissing spine and hind suspensory damage so want to try to avoid as much further heartache as possible :/
Please pm me if you'd rather, just want to avoid the bad ones :0)

TBH, I don't know why people go to dealers when they desperately want the RIGHT horse. Dealers rarely have a horse long enough to know it. Why not find a reputable breeder who runs youngsters on to backing and riding away. These horses are unlikely to have 'history' - and a good chance they are free from anything nasty brewing. I have a 5 year old mare who obviously had the start of kissing spines when we backed her - she was just never happy - and certainly didn't go well enough to offer her for sale. She's had keyhole surgery and steroid treatment and APPEARS fine now - although she's still a the lunging stage - but she WON'T be for sale - ever!

I'm a bit far from you (Shropshire/Worcestershire borders) but it MIGHT be worth the trip as I'd have at least 4 that might suit you - and you'd know their life history, Mums, Dads, siblings etc.

The most important thing is not to rush in to anything as loosing a horse is both very sad and traumatic so please take it nice and slowly.
There are some dealers that keep horses for a long period of time so as to get them well established but you are quite right to ask for a recommendation. Please let us know what type of horse you are looking for and what you want to use it for? Then maybe we can give you a recommendation or even a link to some horses.
