Can anybody recommend a horse dealer around the York/E coast area. On a horse hunting trip and seem to recall someone mentioning one around York??

I'm from that area, what are you looking for? By the way I'm not a dealer but I know of a few around depending on what you're looking for

I am looking for a 15.2 to 16.1 ish (pref mare really) 5 to 9 year old with sensible temperament, sound, nice paces (even if not well schooled yet), 100% in traffic, box, clip, shoe etc, middleweight type. I want the horse to mainly to hack, alone or in company, but I really enjoy schooling and am very patient re training so may, just may, compete again in dressage locally. To be kept at home and lavished upon along with two other pampered mares.

I am getting on, (55) so don't want major issues to deal with and I teach and ride other people's horses so need a ned that doesn't require riding every day.

Needless to say there is a budget, around £4000, which is no doubt not enough for such a gem!

I can recommend www.stubleyhollowfarm.com Its just outside Sheffield. I know several really good horses who came from there including my own mare. you may have to come up with another few hundred quid, but what you describe is just the type of horse they specialise in! Also Patsy and her head girl Hannah are very straight, they genuinely try to match up the right horse and owner and won't sell you a horse if they feel its unsuitable for you. In addition, their warranty is actually worth something as, if for any reason you did need to return a horse, there are always other nice, sensible horses there to change it for. Lots of dealers have a 'exchange' warranty, but they then won't come up with a decent horse to exchange it for!

I Know a great guy in thirsk with horses of this stamp/price.
I bought a horse from him and he is fabulous...after service etc.He has some nice horses in and only sells genuine types,will give you a trial as well.He has a couple I have seen that are very nice and may suit you.He is only a 'small' dealer;only 2-4 horses at a time.please pm me if you would like his contact details..Thanks
