Hi,

Bit of market research actually! Re dealers websites, what do you like to see on them? Can anyone point me in the direction of any really good ones I may have missed? Or any terrible ones? I'm currently making my own site, so would love to know what people value!
Thanks!

I'm not too fussed over seeing prices as you can ask when/if you call. I like a variety of pictures from different disciplines and its better to have a video.
Something else that puts me off is when different horses have pretty much the same description.

I would want it to look professional as well.

what facilities they have i.e. do they have a good busy road I can try out on.

Defo want the prices on there. Wouldnt bother ringing otherwise.

Very clear terms and conditions in writing on the site.

A decent rider riding the horses, wearing a hat and proper footwear, looking at some dealer sites you see them and think no way, thank you. And its best to show the horse wearing tack that fits as again this shows professional service, not the bridle or the bit hanging off the horse.

I don't call if there's no prices on....

Have a section when you can see when you last updated the site.

I quite like clip clop traders and southgate farms website. I'm looking at the moment and go on theirs most days as I find them very user friendly.

Something professional looking, nothing too bright or gimmicky. Pictures and video of horses with a price. Well turned out horses and riders and a good description, including a realistic idea of suitabilityof horse for job, i.e. sitable for novice, or amatuer, competition horse, with some honest comments on nature of horse and greenness/or how balanced and established. Equine Agents and Southgate good sites. Agree with abve, don't like impersonal ads where all horses described similarly, an immediate sign of dealer who doesn't give a damn about horse going to right home, just about getting the money in their pocket! Hope you are setting up a sales site Natalia, often look to see if you have one

Grey mare- www.ntequine.co.uk coming soon! I'm working hard on it right now. I find the stubley hollow site very badky laid out and confusing, if I'm honest a bit messy! Deff will put prices on ours, and also lots of pics and videos, do you like all the meet the team and news bits of them, or keep more simple?

can i put in a plea for regular updates. Found a lot of dealers sites where I rang about horses to be told that they had sold - some many weeks ago. Maybe put on "New in on 25 Sep" or something similar on your recent ones... although i can also see the downsides of this...

Love this website:
http://www.medbournegrangeish.co.uk/

I have nothing to do with them by the way! But the website is simple yet informative, the horses for sale are clear with a picture and the basics, and when you click on them the page is well laid out, the descriptions are clear and the videos show the horses competing or riding in most diciplines!

Forgot to say it is also reguarly updated and as horses do more with them, the adverts change accordingly :)

or just take them off the for sale page as soon as they are sold.... A note in the top corner when site is updated is good.
