This morning, I spent two hours re-fencing my winter paddock the idea being that the slightly piggy overweight get fat on fresh air cob would stay on the grass that had been grazed down by him and my TB and my TB could start grazing down the other side.... Well, that lasted about ten minutes, the cob barged straight through the fencing (electric) and then I spent an hour trying to catch him aughghgh - they are now back in their summer field, the cob in complete disgrace!!!
I am now at a bit of a loss... as have never been in this situation of having to feed two horses that are so different.
At the moment, my TB comes in for two feeds a day, and the cob has nothing but grass, I've let them graze down a small part on their winter field (the idea being as described above) and they have been and will be on their summer field during the day until it gets too wet (they are not allowed on their summer field when it gets too wet - yard owners rules)
Any ideas, advice on what you do would be gratefully received! I'm planning that they live out so realise that the grass isn't going to last forever but I defo need a plan going forward!
Also just out of interest, those who have theirs out 24/7 when do you roughly expect to start feeding hay, I realise that it dependent on the weather etc and size of field but I'm hoping I will get to mid-November..
Thank you for anyone that has got this far...
