Please please please will you reconsider the re-banning of some of our valued contributors, who have a LOT to offer.
I'm sure I'm not the only one to miss their input.
I realise certain topics are off-limits, and I'm sure we all know by now to avoid those.
This is such a good community, please let them back in.

the problem is, it's all or nothing i guess. admin can't select the popular ones... :)
and i guess some people were banned for mega troll behaviour/being completely awful...

mind you, the forum has been a bit snore-inducing lately... perhaps we need another dunroamingate/trollfest/etc... :D
 
was she actually banned for lying?!? does anyone know why she was banned? i often wonder this. i wonder if admin read those sorts of threads and laugh to themselves...

i wonder if admin meets their friends down the pub and tells them about things like DunRoamin... and they all laugh... :)

Anyway , I thought many just come back under another alias and never really leave...;)
I can imagine the furor if just the 'popular' posters were allowed back :eek:
 
i thought Admin had some way of telling if multiple usernames were coming from 1 IP Address? i think there was a thread to this effect, saying that the reports about it were embedded in saved "Sent" emails, but the thread has now mysteriously disappeared...
(not guilty btw, i can only cope with 1 name and 1 password!)

Unless you troll , I don't think they care..
There is definitely more that one usernames coming from my IP and I haven't been banned..

Yes, i meant that if someone that they had definitely banned tried to login with a different name, then Admin could ban that too i guess...
oh gosh, what do i know. i don't know who 99.9% of people are anyway.
 
Lucretia and JM were definitely not banned for trolling. They were banned (with a little help from the button pushers), for being outspoken over matters they felt passionately about...

I know there are still a few of us about, but I really miss the 'Grown Ups'.

I stopped posting when it all just too fwuffy bunny wabbits, then the kids went back to school or off to twitter or facebook or summat and it started to get back to normal and in the meantime a bunch of the best posters got banned or hounded off.

Oh well, at least me and Pedantic are still about, every forum needs a couple of grumpy old men.

There have been some banned users, who have returned under another alias, only to be banned again, whereas others get away with it in full view of admin.

That's why I tend to think that admin are less bothered about banned members than the button pushers, but have to act once they have been alerted...:cool:

What was dunroamingate-(get the watergate reference), obviously know you can't say too much for fear of kicking off said topic again!? Pm me if anyone prefers! I'm loving the forum, but its sad if some have been booted out. Surely the tinterweb should be promoting free speech and different opinions and diversity are the spice of life!

Erm, the short version is that a poster claimed to have suffered a really terrible motorbike accident and to be in hospital with multiple fractures, her 'friend' (which we all suspected, some far sooner than others, was actually her) told us all about it, for sympathy and attention i guess. not surprisingly this upset a LOT of people (including me, as i am obviously very gullible, and believed it...)
very silly girl, and that's the polite version.

i think what made it worse was that it was a well known poster, who'd been on for ages. and at one point she was allegedly in a coma etc. so some people were very worried. and when it became apparent it was a lie, it turned quite nasty. some people were (understandably) very angry. others tried to be sympathetic. then everyone clashed...

maybe its just seemed a bit quiet as we've had a hard winter with not much competing going on - when all the eventing and showing gets going again it will pick up won't it?!!

On a side note, how do you know when someone has been banned?

Or we just keep our mouths shut when they come in through the back door...as they have on previous occasions.
