Never thought my first show report would be showing, but here it is. Had a lovely day today at a local RC show.
Like a saddo, I spent 3 hours on Sat evening primping and cleaning, had a restless night with my brain in a fizz, then got up earlier than I do for work 🙄. It was our first show so it was about the experience but secretly we all kind of want a frilly, don't we?!
We had an eventful warm up with a loose horse galloping round but he settled down after a quick warm up. We'd arrived early so I did the novice rider class first. Glad I did as, despite finding ourselves behind the cutest 7yo with matching pony tail and ribbons (I didn't think we stood a chance) we got pulled in first! Go me, beating the small children...
Onto the ridden hunter which is what we'd gone for. He was a bit, ahem, onward bound in the go round, so I tried my best to keep him in check whilst trying to look elegant (fail!). After a decent individual show, minus the gallop as rider and pony have not quite worked that out yet, we pulled in second. Beaten by a well deserved hhoer but I'll leave her to do her own report.
So a first and a second in our first two shows, a very well behaved F (he's particularly good at standing around looking pretty) and some ideas for what we can improve on. And some qualifications, but not sure what for! Didn't stay for the final champs on the day, as felt he'd been so good and I was ready for home.
Only managed it thanks so dianchi/diamore for trimming help, my friend on the day who plaited and sponged us both to within an inch of our lives, and a lot of elbow grease. Who'd have a grey huh. Now celebrating with a take away and an early night!
Pics from friends, none are pro pics.
