hey all, am i the only one that seems to think york is seriously lacking in decent competition venues? Im hoping to get twig my 4yo out and about ove rthe winter months to do some dressage, schooling and some sj when we get going a bit. i havent really competed regularly/seriously in the area for about 2 years due to uni/ work and older horse being off injured (now back in work and hopefully take him for some dressage too!

The only places i can think of are port royal, northallerton and richmond but there not exactly a stones throw away

oh, and gg centre for schooling too!

You are right! Good post!

They are the only ones I use. Seem to always be at Port Royal!

There's Epworth Equestrian centre over in Doncaster - that's not too bad. Lots of stuff at Crockey Hill too - and Selby Riding Club is good if you want some more relaxed stuff.

Interested to know if there are any more!

i completely agree we live near york and dnearest place is 55mins away. well a place that holds regular comps...you get the odd thing a bit closer!

There is Willerby Hill out Beverley way, they do a lot of BSJA and BD. Bishop Burton usually have regular comps through the winter. Not that either are particularly local! Both have websites.
There is also Manor Grange which is near Selby (I think!), they also do a lot of BD, as do Manor Farm in West Yorkshire.
