Having taken seriously nappy horse out for a hack/walk/lead etc. I have decided that he must have mule blood. Nothing, absolutely nothing, will make him go forward once hes decided hes not moving have tried all orthodox and non orthodox methods, as many previous posts! He just stands there with his hooves in his ears going la- la- la - totally switched off to everything. Spent 2 hours doing a 1 hour circuit, think I rode for about 20 mins of that and that was on the homeward lap. Had to have 2 choccy donuts when I got home

Have you tried just sitting there? I did this once with one of mine, were stood stock still for about half an hour until he got fed up and decided to move. However, I wouldn't let him, made him stand still for another five minutes before kicking him on and continueing on our hack. He never did it again :)

Have had 2 hour sits, half hour sits, two half hour sits this morning, once I gave up in the end and got off and led because it started to pee down. He doesnt learn from this at all. Been going on since May now. He is up for sale but still working on him to try and get past this problem. He likes standing still, lazy git

My horse does this when he's had enough!
Don't know how to cure it though as he also is very stubborn.
Would like to see the replies for this :)

MrsElle -That's a good point! I'll try that next time he decides to be a nuisance :D

As an owner of five mules I can tell you that unless the dam is a female mule this is impossible(and very rare if the dam is a female mule anyway although it has been done)
