I've decided that I can't give up on my boy just yet

They said there is an 80% chance that if we reverse the tie back he will be back to how he was before the original op - no food or water coming down his nose

, no food in his windpipe & therefore no coughing. He will be able to do most thing, just no proper fast work & therefore sadly no eventing, but he should be able to live a fairly normal life & do hacking, dressage, SJ etc & maybe low level XC. We will know if it's worked within a few weeks & prob days

So loads of HHO's good vibes for my boy please. I'm taking him in tomorrow afternoon & he'll have the op on Thursday morning.
I don't think I'm going to be much good at work for the next few days!

Good luck - I hope it works out for you. I've just been told my boy has a partial larynx paralysis and inflamation of the lungs to make things worse. I know how you feel - my promising eventer is unlikely to do more than hack now. I've got my fingers crossed you get Spider back to at least being able to do that much.

All the best. I really hope you have a good outcome.

My boy is in Newmarket at the moment - took him there today and have left him for a few days for a lameness assessment. I think in my heart of hearts that it's going to be the end of his eventing career as well. Totally gutted to be honest, but then he is 17.

I really hope all goes well for Spider.

Lots of positive vibes for Spider and after reading your thread the other week, I am really pleased that you are giving him a chance.

Very best of luck to you and Spider.

Sending lots of positive vibes. I'm sure you've made the right decision for you and Spider, he's one lucky horse to have you for a mum!

Lots lot positive vibes for Spider - I read your thread too & i thought you would make this decision! I'm glad you are giving him a chance. Good luck x

I've just dropped him off & he's gone straight into his 'usual'

stable & got down to his favourite passtime of eating

They're planning to do the op at 11am tomorrow & they have said they will call me as soon as he's come round & is standing.
I have everything possible crossed & I'll keep you posted.

God, I know how you must be feeling right now!

The waiting is the worst part but hopefully by 2pm you should have a lovely phone call saying he is up and recovering well!
