decision making help needed

I needed a companion for my weaning that coming home in the next month and needed a companion and now have been offered two. First one is 19 but good for age quite fine but can live out if rugged up well very nice manners about 15 hands as companion only no riding. Second one is 16 hand IDx 16 years who also has really lovely temperment, good feet. Lives out.and can be ridden But has a cataract which he has eye drops for, they are un expensive but as I've never owned one which a cateract I was just curious as to if its likely to need much more treatment? Any comments very much appreciated.
 
Ideally I wouldn't take either, but look for a companion the same age or find somewhere for your yearling to be in a herd environment with other youngsters.

It's not expensive - we keep our youngster in a herd at Writtle College stud. She gets a bit of handling by the students under supervision and has the benefit of spending her 1st 3 years as nature intended with others the same age.
 
It was a real worry to be honest, he had flare ups every 6 weeks for 4 years. I had to be really vigilant and put drops in 4 times a day and give bute. Sadly he was PTS this year with something unconnected. But it was a nightmare it can be extremely painful if not treated promptly. Leading to eventually having the eye removed. The wind, snow used to cause flare ups too. If I were you I wouldn't take the horse on.
 
Thankyou for your replym I think it was caused by uevitis after asking some more which has put me off espcially after reading on here. Shame lovely horse other than that
