Decisions Decisions......... *DELETED*

1. Go with ya gut.

If she's coming back into work then she will be a bit excited and she may chill? Find out what she was like in the past when ridden - is this a new thing because she's been out of work or is it just the way she is.

Sounds like you can handle a horse like that and find it exciting and funny. if you were a nervous rider that got scared of anything then it'd be a different matter entirely.

If she's got under your skin then that's it, game over, it's gotta be No. 1

lol, I can't stand having to be on my guard all the time, farnks spooking is bad enough and I dont mind the occasional welsh mode times but I love being able to go on long, faitly relaxing chilled out hacks on a summer sunday AND (this is the bigun) I know I can take him anywhere and be safe and enjoy it, group rides, hill rides, hunting, beach, shows etc etc. He won't be the one charging back to the boxes at an xc, cos if I fall off he waits!

At the end of the day I don't want to have to be on my guard the whole time... It would be nice to go to sponsored rides and not worry about being carted off with. Bless Frank for waiting if you fall off - thats pretty sweet!

Flame, I'm curious why you wouldn't touch an old eventer with pretty low mileage? At least it means they have been sound and fit all their lives.

Eventing and the fitness required for it is hard going on any horse. Eighteen really is past it for a sports horse IMO, you'd be doing well if you got 7 useful years out of it. I don't understand why anyone buys horses approaching retirement, though.

Well sadly my £2kish budget is on the small side and I could either have an older horse, a TB or a youngster and being realistic with my own capabilities I have opted for the older approach to teach me something. I have just loaned a youngster for the past 2 years and it would be nice to have something a little more 'readymade'.

a few years of fun though and no point if you don't enjoy it,

only thing that would put me off is that it took me a couple years to get the hang of frank bu I think that was just because he was first.

gds- I to tend to not let go but if I do nearest blade of grass suffices
