well im trying to plan events for next few months and im thinking about doing a ode for first time in over a year last one was a disaster. should i just go for it?

Personally I'd get some practise sessions in first by doing some schooling rounds and maybe having some lessons? Just because I would feel like I'm chucking myself in the deep end by competing the first time I went out to a party, but you may be made of stronger stuff so if you're up to it then go for it!

well we've been doing sj and done first xc in a year end of march, i do plan on lots of xc schooling and dressage schooling at home.

Reading what you've just said yes i think you should go for it so long as you feel your horse is ready (which he should be after lots of practice!). What went wrong last year?

well shes was being a pain allday naughty before dressage, took her for hack to get rid of excess energy before sj, also cantered round arena in warmup quite a few times got clear sj just messed up xc with alot of stops and me falling off and her hightailing it other direction lol

so decided to enter a dressage comp at same venue for few weeks before to get some practice in for that discipline. got a bday soon so as long as sorting saddle out doesnt cost too much i will be having lessons with bday money.

All sounds good, you should definitely go for it. Try to remember that it wasn't the location that caused the problems last time so try not to go there with memories of what happened before- it will only make you tense and cause new problems where there needn't be any
