Yes, definitely. It will worm your horse, but, as others have said, it won't do tapes. My vets have me wait several weeks between Dectomax and other wormers. Remember, when administering Dectomax for feather mite, it should be given in three jabs, each ten days apart. So, you are actually worming your horse with Ivermectin three times in 20 or so days.

Ditto.

3 jabs for a newly purchased mite ridden, itchy, greasy flea bag, who within the first 5 days on the property did more damage to the fences and buildings that the whole herd has done in 6 years !

The jabs have made a huge improvement to the scabs on knees and hocks but I still can't shift them totally. Using Pig oil at the moment. Anyone with better idea's ?

I too will wait for answers adorable alice, my horse is itching a lot, bathed him the other night as he was driving me mad and then sprayed him with deosect, rubbing his tail, so slapped naf off on last night and pig oils and sulphured his fetlocks, asked the lady who turns him out to put his fly mask on today as there seems to be loads of flying things about. He's driving me bonkers!

Oh dear ! The dectomax did stop the manic itching on my cob. I then clipped her completely out, bathed legs in selsun, body in a neem oil shampoo. Pulled/thinned top of tail, washed and then pig oil/sulpher thoroughly rubbed in. I don't keep her as a hairy, doesn't do my asthma any favours to have hairy horses ! and I prefer them sleek, clipped and pulled.

The horse is a clyde x RID but has the coat and hair of the clyde. I have only had her 3 months but have found if I keep her clean and clipped the itching is managed. She has a bath everytime she is ridden if she has got even slightly hot. I clipped this evening for the third time. The level of grease in her coat was beyond belief, she will have a vinegar bath in the morning to cut the grease.

The selsun shampoo (boots £4 a bottle) is excellent for getting the lumpy dry skin out of the fetlocks, although it does turn white socks pale orange.

It's the sallenders and mallenders that are the real problem, I have got them down the size of a fifty pence piece but want them to go altogether because I might show her in the spring.
