My horse has had thrush for the last few months, never had it before and although its not bad it has been near on impossible to shift!!
I have been treating with Hydrogen Peroxide daily for the last 2 weeks (already tried purple spray, salt & water mixed to a paste, hoof master, stockholm tar, nothing worked) the peroxide seems to have got rid of most of it, farrier came last week and said frog is 100% better and its virtually gone now.
Problem I have is the main issue is the central sulcus in each foot. They're scabby, smelly and just generally pretty gross  One of them has dried out and is looking well on its way to going back to normal but the others dont seem to be improving. I tried putting the peroxide on every other day but the smell just came back, I am sure it is the sulcus as the rest of the foot/frog looks great! I dont want to keep using the peroxide daily as I am now treating the heel which is skin and I dont want to hurt her or irritate her.

Having looked online, Red horse Field paste or Hoof stuff have very good reviews on horses with these problems. So does anybody have any experience of these products, or any tips on what else I can do?
It is driving me mad now, I want to gone by the time winter sets in if possible as it will be even more difficult to get rid of it then!

Thanks in advance :)

Try a cleatrax soak (long process) and follow up with Red Horse products.
You may need to look at minerals and sugar levels in diet for long term prevention. I would stop the peroxide myself, the scabbing might be burning from peroxide. Canestan is something else to consider deep in the cleft if other things don't work.
You can floss out the cleft with gauze before packing with hoof stuff.

If cleantrax is an option remember it's a US gallon which is less than UK/imperial gallon.

Sudocrem daily.

I have been wondering this after reading some old threads with this suggested. I was under the impression that the key is to dry out the effected area as thrush loves warm soggy places, surely sudocream would just make matters worse?
If I have the complete wrong end of the stick then I will happily give it a go!

does this actually get rid of thrush?? Do you just poke some in with cotton wool?

It worked with my pony - I used cotton buds to put it in.

Sudocreme is working on my pony as well.....I put a dollop on my index finger and work it into all the cracks and crevices, including the sulcus extension into the heel/fetlock....

It works and it smells so lovely. :D

Sudocrem works well. After applying stand the horse in some clean bedding so it sticks and then when the horse goes out, gravel won't get stuck on the frogs.

Seriously though folks you cannot keep the central sulcus dry if the horse has any time out of a dry stable. What you need is a medicated barrier to stop the wet getting in, and sudocrem does the job really well. If the sulcus is so deep it will hold cotton wool, use it, otherwise just jam it in on the end of your finger.

Following your other thread I would stick to one thing whatever you choose, if it isn't helping switch to another, don't throw them all in the mix at once.
Good luck.

Red horse products are fantastic and turned my mare’s feet around earlier this year. For a dry environment I picked up a tip on here about NT-Dry which is a powder you can literally puff right into a deep sulcus – brilliant stuff my medical box will never be without it now.

My horse had a similar problem he had maggots in his frogs and feet were thrushy, it has all cleared up now but has left deep crevices down the centre of his frogs, i am washing once a week with dettol and hydrogen peroxide then picking out, brushing and treating daily with terramycin spray from the vet and they are healing lovely :)

Definitely, I will be giving the hoof stuff a go and if no imporvement after a decent length trial I will then try the next thing on the list. With any luck the hoof stuff will get rid of it all!!

I was literally about to post about hoof stuff.... It's brilliant! I have been trying to floss and clean my mares sulcus for months, but as soon as she goes out it fills with dirt again. I've been using hoof stuff for just over a week and the sulcus is clearly healing up and getting smaller already! It's fantastic. I reckon another couple of weeks it will have healed up completely!

I clean the sulcus with a dilute hibiscrub solution, dry with kitchen roll and then stuff with Hoof Stuff. I do it every other day. It definitely works!
