HI All
hoping I can get some wisdom from you lot. it looks like me belvoed giant BFG Gromit has a lesion on the side of this DDFT :-( there is no hole on the ultra sound its just kinda furry around the edges. He is only 4/10 lame on it and feels totally sound on one diagonal and lame on the other. The vet mentioned PRP and someone also mentioned lasers. What has everyone else done to help the recovery while resting??

theraputic ultrasound, phototherapy - look up photizo could use laser but cant do this yourself and LED works just as well. hope your horse recovers!

thank you guys we are going to try to rehab him to barefoot he is just a bit of a woose when he has to walk without his shoes. We will start with his back shoes then take his fronts fingers crossed that will help him

Mine did his in 2014. We had to scrap the complete box rest plan as he is a stress colicker, weaver, cribber, you name it. Turned him out for a few hours a day just to keep him sane and then the rest of the time in his box. 4 months later he was completely sound. Gave him a full 12 months off though.

Currently 3 weeks into box rest for an acute DDFT tear in my 5yo mare's LF. We had an ultrasound scan the day she did it followed by a cortisone jab and tension bandaged the leg for several days before switching to stable bandaging. Rescanned (ultrasound again) the following week and then last week we started stem cell therapy (however this involved fat being taken from her hindquarters and reinjected into her rather than the usual removal of bone marrow and cultivating stem cells for several weeks before injecting them into the tear site). Can't comment on success yet as it's still early days, but my usually pessimistic vet is now quietly optimistic she may return to dressage with careful management.

ahh thank you soo much. My horse iscurrently turned out with the others and had the vet report yesterday they want to do PRP therapy and key hole surgery to clean the area out and stall pen rest for 10 days and turn out till next spring. Then recan and rehab back into work. I hope your mare is okay sounds very positive if you vet is optimistic.
