I quite often have to apply for export licences for my horses, I dont know how many of you out there do the same but I would like to publically acknowledge the people at the;
Specialist Service Center for Exports (DEFRA- AHVLA)

who are always happy to talk on the phone and help with any problems and despite the normal required 7 days notice for a licence will help if at all possible to process your licence as soon as poss, even during the rush of the Olympic horse movements. In fact by return of e-mail sometimes, so;

Well Done and Thank You !

The realisation that this is a government office means that I shall have to go away and give myself a strict talking too for being happy with such a body.;)

Glad you've had good responses from them. I've never had a good dealing but am moving livestock locally not horses!
The number of times we chase them because they've filled in paperwork wrong.

I agree about the export bods. They are truly excellent.

Just wish they could convey their attitude to the local offices which are quite appalling. They do not seem to be aware that their own department issues instructional guides on how to do things, let alone read them and comply! I have since given up and communicate directly with the Central Complaints Team who translate what I write into bureaucratese and forward to the appropriate department!

If that's bunch at Carlisle then I deal with them on a weekly (sometimes daily!) basis and they're great. I can giv eyou their phone and fax numbers off the top of my head!
