Oh s wagon had 200l stolen over the weekend. His company has had four trucks dipped in one month.
Of course it would be unfair to jump to conclusions so we won t speculate as to who was responsible...... but there are the usual suspects in the area.
With deisel becoming such a precious commodity would it really be difficult to ask to see proof of legitimate purchase on roadside checks?
I myself was approached for diesel when parked up overnight on an industrial estate in scotland...I was offered a generous £10 by a person in an open backed van, but declined due to loyalty to the company i worked for, and also by the 45 gallon drum in the back with a pump.
Is this problem really being taken seriously enough? Oh is away all week now and has to go to the police when he gets back..probably just to eliminate himself.

Feeling you pain; its happened here too. Tho' we didn't have the "usual suspects" nearby, but neighbours had a wild party that weekend and we've got a nasty suspicion that one of them got a bit stuck for diesal so decided to pinch some. It was an amateur job deffo.

The thing to watch, according to the police, isn't necessarily the big thefts that you'll notice, its a small pilfering from the tank, that you wouldn't necessariliy notice, i.e. the lorry is parked up, same place, all the time, thief thinks OK so I'll pay a visit on a regular basis and pinch a smaller amount, so the lorry owners just think the lorry is a bit older perhaps, or whatever, and doesn't notice it might be "using a bit more" diesal. That way, the crime is less likely to be noticed.

Blimmin theiven' devils. It makes you so mad.

oh wagon wasn t far off stranded .i suppose its not him that gets the bill, and his boss trusts him completely, its just the simple fact that hauliers now have to allow for a certain amount of diesel to be stolen each month. It just does nt seem to be taken at all seriously.
These lot were able to avoid cameras due to the obstruction of another truck being parked giving them cover, they came accross a field to get there.
fuel tank locks are a waste of time because they just pick axe the tank to get to the diesel ..causing more damage, loss of earnings and the hassle that goes with it!
One note for flat sided vehicles where the tank is 'hidden' under panels is to park as close to a wall or tank to tank with another truck..about the best remedy we found with my dads coaches..does nt work for artics though cos the tank is exsposed!
