My boss has a lovely 16.2 7yo homebred horse, unfortunately it cant event, as it has basically a weak hip joint, it is great to ride not a complete novice ride but is sensible for any resonably confident rider.

She only wants to loan it for hacking/odd funride etc which it should go on for years. He is currently in work and fit and healthy but no one wants him...

I would hate to see him pts as im sure he could offer someone alot of fun. Any suggestions pref in west mids area.

I'm sure there must be.
My mum wants something like that after her mare is retired, and that was the sort of thing I was looking for until recently. I hope your boss has the time/patience to hold out for the right person to come along as it sounds like that horse deserves it- and there must be other people out there who just want a quiet life hacking out- and those sorts of horses are so hard to find.

Other than that- usual suggestions- local riding club, tack shop/feed shop notice boards, instructors, vets etc who might know of some-one wanting a quieter life/something sensible if they lost their confidence etc.

I really hope i can generate interest as he has till end of summer...

I have a similar horse for loan. I've had a few calls for him with just ads in the local shops. Unfortunately he's been to two loaners and both turned out to be either rubbish or a nightmare.

I'm sure with patience the right person will come along, there is definitely a market for a nice happy hacker. There are a few free websites she could advertise on if she hasn't already tried such as Freeads, Equine Ads and Adtrader.

Pop him in the post and I'll have him if he finds no-one

Like I say, I'm sure there must be people out there, it's just a case of finding them. Good luck

This would be exactly what I would be looking for when I have to retire my current horse.

I dont compete, I love hacking and the odd local show and fun rides etc.

There must be others out there who do the same...I'm sure if he was advertised appropriately someone will come along.

if u were near me i know someone who would take it mates looking for happy hack 15.2+ for long loan/cheap

best thing to do is put horse in local feed/saddlers advertised

I have a 16.2hh ex-eventer - safe but sharp and a bit quirky - she's never nasty but you do need to be 'on the ball' so to speak. Primarily a happy hacker, does low level RC as well.

I currently have a sharer, and have advertised for both full loan and share before. I haven't had a huge number of replies admittedly (probably due to me including phrases like "definitely NOT a novice ride!" , but I have found people relatively easily. No reason why a 16.2hh happy hacker shouldn't be able to find a loan home.

Make sure the pics you use are the best you can get, be careful how you word the ad (best not to go into too much detail over his injury - do that on the phone) and try www.equineadverts.co.uk if you haven't already.

Has she advertised it in something like the farmers guardian or equiv, I loaned my ex eventer ( very similar situation similar age and had djd so could do similar ) out via an advert in this ok about 4 years ago now, however I had so many phone calls in the end I had to stop answering the phone!
