Looking to switch my gelding from Veteran Vitality to Dengie Grass pellets. I'm an over the moon with how well Veteran Vitality has managed to maintain my geldings weight as he struggles with it usually, However he is now a really good weight but now the spring grass is coming I don't feel like he needs something as fattening.
So I was hoping to change him over to Grass pellets. His current feed is:
1 large Stubbs scoop of Veteran Vitality
1 large Stubbs scoop of Baileys no.1
1 large Stubbs scoop of Dodson and Horrel safe and sound chaff.

He gets this twice a day along with his supplements 😊
So what are your personal experiences of Dengje Grass pellets?

If he likes Veteran Vitality (our oldie does well on it too) then I'd suggest Veteran Vitality Lite http://www.veteranhorsefeeds.co.uk/#veteran-light . We give our 26 year old pony who is missing a few teeth ( he's out on loan having a lovely time doing stuff with a small boy) half a scoop of veteran vitality and half of pony nuts, substituting the pony nuts for conditioning cubes over winter, he doesn't have any supplements at all, but looks great on it, and as he's missing a few teeth is very easy to eat and he clearly does like the taste.

I put my fussy 28yo on the Dengie grass pellets through the winter and he did really well off them. His teeth are worn and he doesn't manage hay too well now, but he kept weight in through the winter.

Did you find he still maintained a nice weight? I've just picked up a bag for my gelding who struggles with weight X

He's done really well this winter. I had him to the vet with his teeth just after Xmas and they spent quite a while packing diastemers and the like, which I have done regularly. I had been giving him alfa A oil before that in his feed but it had been getting stuck between his teethso it's been stopped now. He doesn't like most mashes like fast fibre and will only eat a bit of them. He's been on the grass pellets, a balancer and micronised linseed since then. He's come through the winter really well, very happy. He also seems happier, probably because of a mixture of dentistry and feed he likes.
