Does anyone feed this and what are the results? Do you feed any additional supplements as well?

I was advised to feed 5 mugfuls per day alongside Alfa Beet and Alfa A Molasses free.

Normally feed a mix with calm and condition with Biotin, Glucosamine and Oil, would the Balancer be a full substitute? And also wonder how long a bag will last feeding 5 mugs per day!

Its for a 16'2 ex racer who has been very laid back this summer, but still has her moments, and can get excitable when playihng out.

You could always check out the competition when it comes to feed balancers, there are other ones on the market such as Blue Chip, Top Spec and Bailey's Lo-cal as well as others. From personal experience I would really rate Blue Chip when it came to TB's - they were calm, happy, gaining weight, and their previously rubbish feet were rubbish no more, which was a bonus beyond price as far as the owner was concerned!

Yes they should be a complete mix of vits and mins and you ought not to need any further supplementation if you are feeding at the recommended rate. Not sure about the glucosamine though.

You might want to check feeding rates as well as prices when you try to compare the different brands. Feeding rate sounds like it is about 600 grams per day (a mug of balancer usually comes in at 200g), so get your calculator out and work out how many days in theory your sack should last!

I remember when the Dengie Balancers first came out and I had a voucher for £5 off. I did the maths and worked out that the Top Spec Comprehensive Balancer I feed worked out cheaper.

Ive just worked out it would cost £50 a month to feed her on what they recommended for Summer while she is living out. Winter will be more expensive!

Its double what It costs to feed her currently!!

You can't know if it is a complete supplement (or if you are feeding too much or too little of particular vits/mins) unless you also have your forage and grass analysed. These balancers are only "balanced" when they are the only thing you feed because they don't take into account hay/haylage and grass.

Hi, I have used this product for my horse with great success! I used to feed a cool mix and sugar beet and a whole host of supplements but I found that my horse became very fizzy on this diet! Since changing to a the balancer and Alfa-A my horse is more managable (he still has his silly days!) and looks great and I think I actually saved money as I dont need to feed all the supplements that I used to!

You really should weigh out exactly what you are feeding, mini scales only cost me £2.00 [Morrisons] and from that you can assess cost per day/week or month.
I rather thought that a balancer was to give mins and vits to a horse fed on any forage, though I realise this is rather sweeping.
I find most manufacturers assume existing diet provides no mins and vits, which might be the case if a horse is stabled and fed on 24 hour soaked hay or in overgrazed grass fields. Also it depends on the workload and the type of horse and current conditions, so many variables, maybe that is why I prefer to stick with a more conventional feed regime.

I really rated dengie balancer, it have my horse a real good boost and didnt put extra weight on. However but got better results from top spec comprehensive balancer re: coat shine and energy.
