dengie cool ,condition & shine. Anyone used it ? What do you think of it? Was thinking about putting my new tb mare on it , or recommendation for a chaff that will do all 3 of the above with low sugar / starch and wont make her hot but want to keep her feeds simple

sorry cant help with the feed but a word of warning, if you havent had her long it may be better to increase her hay rather than feed .. so many times on this forum people get a new horse and want to condition fatten it up and before long there is another post saying they are now scared to ride as it is misbehaving, so be very cautious if you are upping feed and make sure you increase the work accordingly

On plenty grass at the moment and will so also be on ad lib hay condition is improving steadily, dont mind her being 'hot' but if it can be avoided , shes not misbehaving in anyway, complete opposite just looking for whats best for her

I was going to say exactly this! Hay, hay all the way. They do very well on it. Excellent advice, splash.

I’ve not used that particular variety of dengie feed. Nothing against it but I think it’s more cost effective and flexible to use a separate balancer and chaff.
Beware bag sizes when comparing feeds. Standard chaff bag is 20kg but some quietly go down to 15kg with a similar price tag...
Forage and a balancer would be my starting point with anything new, if your looking for some cool condition try an alfalfa chaff with oil added.
As already mentioned they can pick up and start to feel very ‘well’ quite quickly. So I’d start there, see how she does, you can always add more gradually if necessary ?

Contains oat straw and molasses with a MJ DE of 11. Plain grass chaff is 10 MJ DE/kg so not huge difference and much simpler ingredients wise :) if still wanting more condition after upping hay and horse will tolerate it, their Alfa A Oil is just plain alfalfa and oil with a MJ DE of 12.5
