Dentist - Essex - suggestions please

Have had a recommendation for Damian, except he isnt on the BEVA list?

Anyone used Stuart Garrard? He is on the list!

Any other suggestions?

Stuart is great! Very friendly and good with the horses.

we have been using Garry Draper ever since he was recommended to us. He will travel into Essex, is very reasonable, and a really nice guy. He also teaches dentistry - he used to be a farrier years ago so really has a massive amount of knowledge, and is so good with the horses, even the really difficult ones that would normally be sedated.

I guess the Damian you've been recommended is Damian Greenshields - affiliated to the Oak Equine vet surgery. If you go to Oak Equine's web page you can find his info through there.. or www.yourhorsesteeth.co.uk I think is his web page.

I use him and he's very good.

Does anyone actually use a dentist on the list? it is a very small list ... just wondering what other "qualifications" these "dentists" had, as I was under the impression that you had to pass the BEVA exams etc?

Oh really? All her ad say she's a qualified BEVA dentist type thingy. Hmm will go do some research I think x

I use Stuart Garrad and have done for quite a few years, he is really good, really patient and the horses like him, he explains everything he has found, makes you feel the problem and explains what he is going to do and what you need to do to maintain your horses teeth. He works at Paton and Lee's surgery in Witham a couple of Thursdays a month.

I think I am going to go with Stuart - he seems to be the only person who has been recommended and is on the actual BEVA list. I have previously only ever used vets - would prefer someone who has done some form of training and passed some sort of exam before I let them play about with my horse's teeth!

Another one who is v. good is Richard Frost at Hawkedon, qualified vet and dentist (on the list).

She may be - I think you have to ring BEVA to find out if they have passed the exam as only people who have registered to be on the list are actually on the list!

I am certain Julie Mcarthy is NOT qualified.

She puts in her ads "fully trained by the Equine Dental College UK" - this is not a qualification and is an extremely short course.

CEqD is the American qualification and does not mean anything in this country unfortunately.
