I need an equine dentist for my two, one of whom is terrible for having his teeth done. Up until now I've only ever used a vet and every year he has needed more and more sedation to get him done, to the extent that I was told by the vet to leave his teeth until there is a problem and they will knock him out flat to do it, as of yet there is no problem, but I would like to at least get him checked.

So any recommendations for a sympathetic, no nonsense edt?

I use Sam Oakes, who is based over that way. He comes out to me near Shrewsbury. He's fab, loads of friends/ acquaintances use him and everyone is always really happy. PM me and I'll send you his number if you like.

But, if yours is really bad to do then surely you're going to need vet to sedate while the EDT is there?

Robin Harding has come here every year and is a horseman through and through. His number is on the EDT site. There is however a local vet who has done the EDT training in Mark Siddle (Siddle Veterinary Services) and I recently had him as a 2nd opinion on 34 yr. old Sabria. He was as good as most EDTs I have come across and quite reasonable (he doesn't charge a call out fee for pre booked appointments) in that he charged £35 to extract three very loose molars. And as a vet he does have access to sedation if it is needed. Best of both worlds IMO

Yes possibly. The vet is very quick to sedate and so he has never had the chance to get accustomed to having his teeth done without sedation. You can get a gag in without sedation so he would at least be able to be checked.

Thanks for his name though I'll PM you for his details
