Had the dentist out yesterday and all three of the horses were good, no sedation needed :)
My three year old had two loose teeth which came out while dentist was rasping his teeth, i want to keep these but they currently smell(iv been told im strange), how can i get the smell to go away?
He also has his wolf teeth coming through, one just under the surface and the other just broken through so have to keep an eye on those as they might have to come out, anyone had to have their horses wolf teeth out before? and has anyones horse still got their wolf teeth which don't cause any problems?

No idea about the smelly teeth! However, can confirm that my 11-y-o TB still has his wolf teeth & they do not cause him any problems. He has regular dentist visits.

my 8yr old cob in my sig still has his wolf teeth too. They aparantly have the biggest roots the dentist has ever seen but they don't cause him any issues to he said to leave well alone.

i know this is going to sound wierd, but youre best boiling the teeth to get all the bits off them, then get a poo pot or some little jar which has a lid to seal. You may want to add to milton solution once youve boiled the teeth
dont know about noth having probs with wolf teeth as my youngster had her wolf teeth out last May before I started to back her - they didnt cause her any problems before but didnt want to have any once i started to ride her.

Thanks will try that with the teeth tomorrow.
Iv got to wait to see if they cause him problems to see if they need to come out, im hoping they wont cause any problems as i don't want them causing him pain, especially when im trying to back him, don't want any bad/uncomfortable experiences like that for him.

depending how much is on the teeth you mnight need to boil them for a while.

did your dentist recommend leaving them in? like i said mine recommended taking them out to ensure i didnt have to break off from backing her

Yup boil the teeth!

Re wolf teeth, it all depends on the individual horse, his/her use, the size and eruption angles etc etc but I am more or less of the theory "if it aint broke dont fix it".........if they arent causing a problem then leave them in :-)

he said it might not be necessary to take them out so to see what happens as they are only just coming through.
