Dentistry Question

My horse has got the vet coming for vaccs in a couple of weeks and he is also due for his teeth to be done so i am thinking about getting the vet to do those while they're there. My question is what is the difference in price between the vet doing them and a dentist doing them? I only ask as my vets do a health check scheme which includes vaccs and dentistry aswell as other things, and seeing as i'm having 2 of the things done i am wondering if there's not much difference in price whether i may aswell go for the whole lot.

Does anyone remember how much a vet charges roughly for teeth, or have an old bill to hand. I seem to remember the dentist being about 60 pounds?!

I'm not trying to skimp on anything, just wondering if i may aswell get a full health profile done and pay the lot! :p
 
Personally I would much rather a EDT do my horse's teeth.
They are specifically trained and qualified in dentistry, whereas vets have done a short week course on it.
My dentist charges £50 which is expensive for a dentist, but she's great so I pay for her, whereas I know other EDT's at £30-£40
 
My vet is a senior vet with alot of dentistry experience, my horse has never had any issues and is done regularly so i am perfectly happy for him to be done by my vet. I would be happy for most of the vets at my practice to do him, even my local dentist said he would be happy to recommend them for dentistry.
 
We would charge £30 for a fairly simple job with hand rasps. More extensive work or power tools would depend on complexity and time taken.
 
Experience matters a lot in dentistry profession. It is really good that your vet have nice experience. This is good that you have got this better doctor which is very helpful for you.
