Dentists in South-West??

Hiya, does anyone have any recommendations for equine dentists that cover the south-west please?

I am mid-Cornwall, and would prefer someone who does not routinely use power tools.

Any help would be much appreciated x
 
Bill Lomas - if you can get hold of him - always seems busy. Never used power tools on mine and he has a real way with horses too.
 
Up until recently, I've had a dentist who I've been very happy with, but unfortunately he can no longer come this far down, I'm in the very south west of Cornwall. I had the same problem trying to find someone else and spent hours speaking to people and looking online to find someone. Eventually I spoke to Curtis Thompson, he is based in Wiltshire but is happy to come down to Cornwall. I've heard nothing but good reports about him and booked him to come down and see my horse next wed (29 June). I was quite impressed having a chat with him and he said he routinely uses hand floats unless more serious work needs to be done. w1bbler - have heard his name mentioned before, how far in advance have you had to book up?
 
http://www.horsedentistry.biz/ is Bill Lomas website, Usually need to book at least 3 weeks in advance (can take a while to get replies from him - have found e-mail to be the most reliable form of communication)
Highly recommended for any horses with a nervous disposition.
 
Sarah Marshall based in Dobwalls area,highly recommended,hand tools only,very patient with problem horses,usually fit you in the next week.DTV.

I used Bill Lomas last week for first time although my sister has used him before and recommended him.

Thought he was very good, my cob was very relaxed with him. He was thorough and explained why their teeth needed doing etc etc and even let me explore inside my cobs mouth! Was very interesting.

Will let you know how we get on. I know he's new to the area and if everything works out ok (he's also doing 4 horses for a friend of mine in Penzance), He would definately be interested in getting more clients to do on the way down here and on the way back.
 
bex.louise - that would be fantastic, thank you, I will be requiring a visit for a three year old and a pony anytime soon, or alternatively can wait until they all need doing (five in total) October/November time. I routinely have mine done every six months. Also one needs wolf teeth out. Not expecting you to pass on this information, just to give you an idea of how many I have etc. I live in Scorrier x
 
Another vote for Stephen Williams or Ellie o'toole, both are fantastic, I have used Ellie in particular with horses that could be a problem, and she is fantastic, however, saying that Stephen was a peach this winter when my mare started to develop diastema, she had never had the powertools and she REALLY didn't think they should be going in her mouth :D he was very firm very competent and he has a fantastic trainee with him who is in her final year, so little old me didn't have to be dragged around the stable with my wee beastie! I would be surprised if you were dissappointed with either of these two. I have used stephen for the last 10 years and Ellie on and off depending on the horse, she used to do our shire who flatly refused Stephen to come anywhere near her but would stand in the middle of the field with ellies arm in her mouth!

SW Qualified over here, E O'T Qualified in America.
 
I can highly recommend Ellie O'Toole, but would never let Stephen Williams near any of mine again, although many people like and recommend him. Gill Spinney also comes here and has an excellent reputation.

Curtis is used at my yard.
very good reputation and you are lucky he will travel that far down to you!
 
im using victoria hammond this time round. she has a very good reputation and doesnt always use power tools. other wise peter nott down devon way is very very good. very quiet and gentle with them.
