Anybody use this? I know you use it once a week, and it’s for sweetitch but can you use it in in place of normal fly spray too? I’m just trying to plan ahead for the summer y and having three to do was wondering if this might be a more cost effective way of doing it without having to apply fly spray 2,3,4 times per day…

I've used it as a weekly fly spray before. I've also sprayed it on myself in desperation.

I've also accidentally attempted to clean a bathroom with the stuff after making it up in an old disinfectant spray bottle. It is a really rubbish bathroom cleaner.

Deosect works different to a lot of flysprays
It won't keep fly's off but what it does do is killing them dead when they make contact with it.
The coopers fly repellant used to be one of the better ones for keeping them away

Yes, I love it! And last summer was a pain in the bum as Deosect was unavailable and I had to do almost daily applications of 'normal' fly spray.

I was under the impression the advised application was more of a fortnightly thing, and I think that's what I've always done in the past. However I was thinking of doing weekly this summer anyway as it's my first full summer of having Deosect available for my SI pony.

I would recommend sponging on rather than spraying, and it's VERY pungent, so I always use a dedicated sponge and jug for it. Apply it when they are outside the stable, where they are less likely to breathe it in.

Patch test first, I had a horse react, not uncommon according to vets, it was not a pleasant experience to say the least and included her throwing herself onto concrete.

I thought they stopped selling it?
Just be wary op, please do a patch test. I have one that acts like I’ve thrown acid over him. He lost it so much I couldn’t wash it off. It must have been hideous for him as he is usually such an easy horse.

Well this all sounds scary! 😦 having second thoughts now (any other suggestions?) I’ve heard of switch but don’t know how well that works. Where do I do a patch test? google reckons inside of foreleg?!
