I don't often feel down but today I really do. My riding over the last few weeks has been completely pants. I seem to have lost all sense of balance and rhythm in my school work and the simplest things are awful!! Why does this happen - it all seemed to be going so well.

Anyone any ideas???

Don't worry, we all feel a bit crap sometimes. Maybe concentrate less on your school work for a while and do some other stuff? Hacks, jumping etc.??

It's probably because you are getting stressed about it that you are having probs?

Leaving the schooling for a while had crossed my mind - I am booked in for a lesson tomorrow I will see what my instructor suggests. Also does anyone have any suggestions for good exercises off the horse to suggest - balance related perhaps?

I agree with everyone, go have some fun and then come back to it again when you both feel refreshed, you may notice a difference. You seem to be expecting alot of yourself!

Agree, do something fun! I was getting quite hung up about George going round in the school like a giraffe, then thought he's my friend we're supposed to be having fun! So when light permits we've been hacking, and then doing raised poles in all sorts of patterns in the school and he seems to really enjoy this!

Def agree that you should just have fun. If you have one of those big medicine balls then you can try kneeling on it. You can do it whilst watching tv and it helps balance. make sure to start with your by something to grab so you don't fall off.

Don't, don't, don't give up! You have a wonderful horse, and all the time in the world to work it out together - I agree with everyone else have some fun with DD, he's a cracking chap and if he's anything like coco he'll really appreciate popping a little cross pole or goingout on a hack in between schooling, and so will you.
You've worked really hard to get him well again, don't give up! Do you remember when I used to spend more time on the floor than on coco, when he was about 6? I used to fall off all the time and see Hannah and Sophie going round on their lovely little ponies looking much better than me and they had only just started! I felt like giving up but I didn't and we've improved loads.
DD is a wonderful horse - please please don't give up on him! Everyone has times when they feel awful and aren't getting what they want from riding, carry on and you'll be so glad you did!
