hijust wondered if anyone has exeprienced a depressed pup? i say pup, he's 3yo and very affectionate lab, but over the past few weeks he's suddenly gone very quiet. He's not a loon by any stretch of the imagination but he normally loves running around after his ball, and lately he's got to a point where he'll pick it up, refuse to give it back then head for home. He's eating and sleeping fine, just seems really maungey (my dads word for mopey and quiet!!) and not his usual exuberant self when you walk in. I don't want to take him to the vets unnecessarily and he doesn't seem to be i pain, eyes and nose are clear, ears are clean and he's not running a temperature. any suggestions?

Have there been any changes in your life/lifestyle?
the reason I ask is that a few years ago I was unwell. My Lab went just the same as your description. I took her to the vet and he said she was picking up on the vibes that all was not well with me, and subsequently my family were also behaving differently because of my illness.
everyone made a huge effort to "cheer up" for want of a better phrase and Beau also improved.
