Depressing viewing tonight

This is the harsh reality with horses and dogs at the moment. Very sad viewing but it needs to be brought out into the open.

Very upsetting to hear this on the radio this morning.

And people are still going out and paying £400 for a mongral............

Trouble is the people who churn out "status" dogs, and the idiots who own them probably won't watch the programme. The statistics they quoted on the radio are horrific, so sad .

Shows how publicity plays a huge apart in peoples views. A dog behaviour is how its been treated by the owner, not by the breed it is!!! It really makes my blood boil how a breed can be percieved as 'dangerous' due to a select few incidents normally steming from irresponsible owners.

Very very sad indeed :(.

All dogs are dangerous, however there are breeds whose inherant characteristics make them more so. Of course it all depends on how they are brought up, but a badly brought up yorkie is going to be less dangerous than a badly brought up Dogo ;)

Its down to the stupidity of humans that they think there's some kind of coolness in having badly behaved dogs of any breed. And sadly only the dogs who pay the price by being PTS :(

This actually just made me cross, not sad at all.

I was looking into dog bite statistics a few days ago actually, the most common are chihuahuas, JRT's and Labs, not these 'dangerous' breeds.

Part of me wishes they'd try and rehab them though rather than automatic PTS. :(

Same here - also some people are perfect for these deemed unrehomable dogs!

What is so wrong rehoming a staff like this to a person with breed experience who is happy to take on a dog with issues and work with it? Many of the smallers rescues do do this - so I guess its the RSPCA protecting themselves from lawsuits etc

But today is a GOOD day ..I rehomed a little staffie girl ,who since last Thursday has been passed around like a parcel..now she is in a good secure and loving home ,hopefully her last and forever home.

I agree - it was very sad knowing that the little staffie was going to be pts. However, if that many animals are being deposited in shelters, where is the time or the funds to re-hab? Sounds like they are simply overwhelmed.

A very sad, and thought provoking programme - and I would urge anyone considering buying a dog to think twice. Go to a rescue centre.
