Hi,

I need help to choose a new T/O rug as I'm struggling to get a good fit for one of my girls. She is 15'2 but quite long in the bak so most things are too deep for her if they fit in length ie. they hang around her knees.

After having a few disasters with other makes I tend to stick to Horseware and the old Rambos and Rhinos used to fit her well. However I've bought her a Rhino No Fill and a Rambo Supreme 200g in the last year and both of them are virtually tripping her up! I am quite worried that she will get caught up in the belly straps when lying down as even when pulled to their tightest the rug still hangs a bit.

I'm looking for a good quality rug that isn't too deep and also fits well around the neck. Price is not an issue - I'll pay what I need to to get a good fit.

I've been looking at Bucas but I can't find anywhere on the net that gives a size chart showing depth for either make.

All ideas welcome :)

Thank you

Fal used to offer a bespoke service, you may want to investigate that a little further to see if they can help you.

Shires rugs are always very short (imo) - so they might work for you.

And of course Ebay could be your friend in terms of buying up old Rambo's and Rhino's.

Thank you Amymay, I bought Fals last year & got rid of them quite quickly as I didn't get on with them at all.

I'll keep on searching as I do want to buy new rather then secondhand.

I have the opposite problem I have deep girthed horses. The rugs I've bought in the past, but had to get rid of because they were too shallow for mine, (but might be suitable for you) are Saxon and Loveson rugs. It seems that the cheaper brands come up shallower.

Thanks Misinterpreted, I have a rug wrecker so don't tend to buy the cheaper ones but it's certainly worth a look if they are a decent fit.

Hi

Agree with the above I found saxon like a mini skirt on my ID.

I have a similar problem of too long rugs and surcingles (belly straps) with my youngster. I have had to put a knot in the surcingles to shorten them and also slip one surcingle through the other (as your cross them under the belly slip one through the other where it is doubled so if one comes undone it doesnt flap around legs). I also found the little plastic bands help keep surcingles in their metal keepers.

Its ironic as with my ID I couldnt get surcingles long enough!
