Does anybody know the ideal depths of school surfaces? In particular the (what i believe to be) basalt type surface, the stuff that looks like a load of grit basically!

Don't know. But if you find out would you tell my YO. Ours is about a foot deep.

Ours is a load of grit and rides VERY deep... too deep really but I doubt it will be changed soon. It's the only downside of the yard.

I dont think our YO will do much to correct it though!

I think I would be happier with to deep than ours. Just noticed that if you lightly scuff your foot over the surface in the middle of the school you are straight on to the hard base surface! Track is only slightly better apart from one corner where it is very deep. Yard owner seems to think all it needs is raking!
