A decision was made at 6.00am this morning that the show will go ahead on Sunday. There has been a tremendous amount of rain on the showground this week & the ground is sodden. Tonight there is more heavy rain expected all night on that postcode (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/de72) so it will be even more soaked. Show jumping entries were all pre entry & I believe the committee just don't want to refund the entry money to the competitors. It appears they would rather risk the riders & horses receiving injuries jumping on unfit ground than refund. I can understand them allowing the show to go on however not to cancel the show jumping is ridiculous. We will not be going...... they can keep the money if they are that hard up........ they are a disgrace.!

Market Bosworth have cancelled their show due to water soaked ground & their show was not on for another week! Their committee appear to be far more responsible.

I am going tomorrow but showing poultry so thats a little different!

I would say in their defence though that they have miles of expensive and very good drainage under the showground so perhaps this will make a difference

So long as its not incredibly deep there is no real reason to cancel just becaus eit's a bit wet! It'll just cost the more to repair it at the end. It's britain-if we only want to jump on surfaces we don't get out that much!

We are in south Derbyshire and my daughter had SJ lesson this morning on grass and the ground was perfect! We didn't even bother with studs. All this wind seems to be drying the ground up very quickly so maybe ground at show will be fine tomorrow!
