Sorry, rather a lot of posts from me today!
Is this shop any good? I was due to go to Robinsons end of the month but now may not be able to go....and am going up to Cambridgeshire with work soon so might stop in on the way back to the Thames Valley! Need some random bits and pieces like stable bandages, haynets, also after some christmas present type stuff, so just wondering if its worth the trip? Do they stock a fair amount of the stuff on their website in that store? If not any other decent shop suggestions en route so MK, Bedford, even Nothampton?

I think the shop is good, but plenty of others wont agree. There is also Tower farm in Earls Bartin, Northants thats great for bits and bibs. Then on the way bacj throuogh the is Horsatack in MK and also RB equestrian, then if your going up the by pass there is Dene Country store in Soulbury which is good for bits and bobs as well

I certainly don't think it is worth coming all the way from Cambridge to go to. It isn't a particularly big store! I'm sure there will be loads of other saddlery/tack shops nearer to where you you are who stock just as good, if not better stuff! Especially for the type of stuff you have listed.
In MK there is a massive store called HorsAtack, which is quite good. Also there is RB Equestrian in MK. TC Feeds in Dunstable, Beds is a good place to go, as is Equisense in Maulden, Beds and Easy Equine near Flitwick, Beds.
Another small, but very well stocked shop is Biggleswade Saddlery in Beds.

Hmm, yeah, we have a few pretty good ones round us - Equestrian World is probably the best and Eileen Douglas is pretty good too - was hoping Derby House was one of the really huge stores with lots of choice like I imagine Robinsons is - but maybe not

Might try Horseatak as have heard they are pretty big, otherwise might just get myself a christmas parcel from robinsons!

There's a lot of high fashion stuff in there but a limited selection of tack and last time I went it all seemed very dressage oriented.
It's a bit disappointing seeing as the old shop used to be like Mecca, altho rather expensive, but nowhere near as disappointing as the branch in Moreton in Marsh.
The only useful section is all the lotions and potions, the clothing is all high fashion and impractical, and again a limited stock of tack - either really cheap and nasty or very expensive.
I used to really look forward to getting the DH catalogue, now it's real let down. Still, we're off to the USA on Sunday, and their tack shops are the size of B&Q

I went last year, figure its a long way for not a lot.

Tried to get some riding boots but came home with nothing.

Shop on 3 floors, I think, but not huge and not oodles of stuff.

I would rather go to Ingatstone in Margaretting, Essex, prob takes about the same time as to get to Olney but it gives you more of the large warehouse type experience. Usually spend about £200 in one trip.

However, Robinsons do have free delivery over £40 order this month if order before 16th, I think!!!

Happy Shopping!!!

I would recomend RB equestrain & Tower farm in earls barton both r oddly near to me either at work or home so all good. Horseatack is ok but like the others have said Olney is not worth a special trip for. Is ok but stocks to much high fashion garb esp a certain Miss Price x

If you end up visiting Robinsons and want some specific things then it's worth phoning them a few days beforehand with a list to make sure it's in stock. I'm always disappointed when I get there and they only have half the stuff I wanted in the right size/colour so the salesperson suggested I ring ahead in future

Loved it when it was Olney Saddlery, gone downhill since Derby House took over. Did not rate Robinsons at all, hate all that Requiste cr**p they sell, cheap and nasty. Tower Farm brilliant, I use the Rugby branch alot, Townfields in Coventry very ggod too.

Tower Farm are brill - all my first riding stuff came from there and they look after you. I remember when my dad took my to get my first hat there about 15 years ago!!!

I really wanted a hat a few years ago and they went out there way to get it for me! Will go back for my brithday in a couple of weeks!

Tower Farm at Rugby is the same company as the store in Earls Barton but the one in Rugby is their main store and much bigger with more stock.

I quite like Horsatack, good range reasonable priced and the staff are great. Can be awkward to find though as its not among the other stores and all the roads look the same. However Sat Nav finds it okay.

RB Equestrian is a good store, staff are great, good range of things and an average sized store, not huge but not tiny either. Smaller than Horsatack.

The staff in all three stores are friendly and helpful
