Lovely green stuff that helps clear up proud flesh, have heard a rumour that its no longer in production.

What is the new equivilant or can you still get it?

I don't think that you can get Dermobion Green any longer here, but you can get the Clear stuff from your Vet though

Was moaning last night about not being able to get dermobion and whenever ive had things treated recently ive been given fuciderm, which is technically for cats and dogs. therefore it only comes in tiny tubes and is ridiculously expensive. I do believe you can still get Dermobion abroad tho (France?) so if anyone has any contacts that could get some i would most definatly be interested!

Yes, it's now called Ilium Dermapred. It's £25 for 200g jar from Animal Pharmacy website online. They're out of stock ATM but I bought a jar last year and it's still going strong after a lot of use (unfortunately). It's brilliant stuff. I'd def recommend getting some when it's back in stock

My vet rec. Betadine ointment which he said was the human equivalent...its good and about £3/4 a small tube. Get it from chemists ie pharmacy - they do a big tube too. Its nice and thick so stays on well and orangey colour. I also like veatlintex hydrogel.

I've still got a tube from years ago, nothing works as well on mud fever. I think it is banned as it contains steroids, anyone know if that's right?

I don't know. I thought it was 'banned' in UK simply because the licence hadn't been renewed. I could be wrong, but Ileum Dermapred is EXACTLY the same product. Annoyingly it comes in a wide necked jar, rather than a hygenic tube, but I am SO glad I discovered it's replacement. Dermobian was a God send when it came into the market.

Ah, edited to add this:
Dermobian Green

Seems it does contain a corticosteroid and requires careful handling. But then again, Regumate requires very careful handling in fertile women and that's not been removed from the market.

I think it became a banned substance because of it getting in to the food chain... Was the best stuff ever on mudfever and open wounds.

I have a very very old tub of it and it still gets used on occasions......
also have betadine in a big bottle in liquid form which i use both diluted and undiluted on all sorts of cuts and sores on both dogs and horses and does a great job!
