Imagine my shame, only a horsey person would understand. my little boy is very good but is very senstive about his sheath and kicks agressively when ever I have touched it. I know you horsey people will understand that it needs touched - all my friends think I am mad-but with fly season approaching, that sheath will need human contact!!

Anyway I had a brain wave and in true Monty Roberts styleee I attached a stuffed glove to a broom handle and proceeded to desensitise whilst at the same time bellowing 'good boy' at in my best horsey voice whenever he didn't kick. Imagine my horror to then look up and see family watching on in horror. They had been walking their dog on the path next to my field. I didn't even try to explain, how could I, I must has looked like a right weirdo!!???

Bl**dy worked though!

god I hope not, may get arrested~!! How could a non horse person possbily understand. I was hunched over too, making sure that the 'hand' was making good contact wih the 'willie'!!

I am sure other horse people sometimes double take at what they are doing and think 'what have I become'!!! My usual attire this winter has been waterproofs, wellies and wollie hat. i am sure i am fairly attractive but it has been a long time... my life at the moment is all hay, mud and more mud!! Hurry on the spring and sunshine (we may even see it this year in Scotland -maybe even for a day!!)

Fantastic. It doesnt beat my friend though. Her horse had a similar problem but she didn't think of using the broom handle, she persevered and got kicked in the face, breaking her jaw; I went with her in the ambulance, the paramedic asked "what were you doing to the horse to make it be so violent?"

apologies for my grasp of English, it is Saturday night after all!

that poor woman, how did she explain! What could you possibly say?? Thank goodness for Monty and my broom! Going to go again tomorrow, may be more aware of pedestrians with small children though!!

Its quite funny really, there was a program on last year, where celebs had to work on a farm. One woman hads to clean a horses sheath, well i just howled, bless her she did it, with everyone standing there watching, cringing and pulling awfull faces.
I got in to work the next day and a couple guys i work with came straight up to me, screwed their faces up and said, 'Do you do that to your horses' Very funny

the horse w***ker! Love it. yes we horsey people are weird to strange non horsey people. Mr Glove and Mr Willie met again today and they are starting to become friends!! Pebble's top lip was quivering, looks like they may become VERY good friends!!

Thank you , you have given me the giggles! Can just picture the scene.

Never been able to get NEAR that region with Merlin - but he keeps himself very clean thank goodness. Brooklyn on the other hand is mucky as hell, accumulates lumps the size of conkers on his bits, so have had to become acquainted with the glove & disappearing arm routine - luckily he doesn't mind too much though doesn't actively enjoy it like some!

Would just like to report back that Mr Hand was successful and willie was officially touched by a real hand on saturday just past. Thank you Monty Roberts!!
