Can anyone help me, I'm situated on the Leicestershire border near market harborough and I'm desperately searching for grazing, livery, anything for my 2 horses. I'm at the point that I'm going to have to sell my 2 beautiful and very much loved horses if I can't find anything and it's breaking my heart. Please if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thank you

Have you tried posting on Facebook in all the local groups?

Livery List would be worth a look through too.

You could try contacting local farmers, although many nowadays aren't willing to rent a field as horses trash them.

Good luck!

I had some luck many years ago with door knocking local farmers. scabby bit of land but was brilliant for us as had native ponies.

Then again a few years ago I put notes on gates with my phone number asking to rent land. I had a couple of replies.
Try this. I knocked a farmers door years ago and not only did he say yes but he turned out to have indoor stables, totally unused and caked in dust. My daughter is still great friends with his grand daughter now 20 years on!
Daughters completely non horsey BF's family has some land and similar story, A lady came along desperate and years later is still there and a few of her friends also moved in.
It's absolutely worth a try and the worst that can happen is they say no.
Also maybe a post card in local horse feed places, even normal shops if you have any that do that kind of thing?

Good luck 🤞

Landowners may have spare space but be nervous of having unknown people in their ‘home ‘ - who may bring more trouble than pleasure.

My advice would be to add in anything reassuring, for example work, personal and/or work references available, maybe happy to occasionally look after dogs - whatever you can add to make having you in their life more attractive.

Don't give up, keep asking around. I did this and just when I was about to lose hope, a farmer gave me a random phone number, saying it was worth a try. It turned out to be for a lady with grazing available, 10 minutes away! This place hadn't come up on any of the FB groups I was monitoring, just a very private, tucked away place that not many people knew about.

Best of luck.

When we were desperate we drove round looking for anywhere that had land with horses on that looked as if there could be room for our mare. We luckily found a retired farmer who had downsized and was just setting up a livery yard. We were his second customer and stayed 10 yrs, we had 4 horses when we left
