Does anyone have any recommendations where to find a feelance groom to cover 2 weeks from June 24th (I know just 3 weeks away!!!). Due to take my first holiday in 2 years and have just been let down and so am rather stressed and struggling to know where to look. The yard is near Bridgwater Somerset but they would be welcome to live in my house for the duration and it would be general care and possibly some excercise of 14 horses (competition and liveries) and it would be working alongside one other full time permanent person. Really don't want to leave her to try and manage alone so any suggestions gratefully received, Thanks.

damn, you deserve a holiday!

will have a think for you to see if I can come up with anyone local that might be able to help, though noone springing to mind atm.

i may well be able to help you!! my work finishes next week and i havnt had any interes in my business yet. PM me if you still need some one.

I used to freelance through career grooms, as a Employee I reccomend them, I only ever done the bigger names, and got paid around 400 pw plus travel/flights food and accomodation.. I dont meen to sound like i was bigging myself up but I got paid that on my reputation, and the employer knowing I could care for/turnout to the highest standards. What im saying is you may pay a lot but your know what you are getting and tht your horses will be safe.

Bugger.. read it as July for some reason :( if you ever need any help in school holidays though im quite happy to come and help x

Thanks for all the replies. I Have had a look through the Grooms association list and emailed a few and will PM you Miss Buffay. I am not looking for someone to run the whole yard, but rather give my head girl much needed help with some sole charge on perhaps 1 or 2 days. Therefore needs reasonable experience, likes to work hard and have common sense and initiative. Big Boy Rocky, I could well need some help over the summer at some point so will let you know... Oh and Ester are you sure you don't want to take a couple of weeks off work and just play with horses! Guaranteed to get you fit and toned for the summer!

pmsl does that mean I would be able to develop a vice like grip on frank which means he only goes forwards in the direction I request ;) (I might take him off his jumping break after dressage next weekend!) .........I might if they weren't all so darn big! :p you know I like to be able to see over the top of things I handle :D.

Oh and I have it on good authority that I am often found lacking in the common sense department.......

blimey that will take us ages to get round!

As ground still horrid will prob pop up of a wed evening at some point, once I decide he has suffered enough for his behaviour at slm a few weeks ago (grounding welsh ponies does work hopefullly)

I could do it, not working at the mo. Not in a bad way!! Would have to stay at yours though cos you're just a bit too far. Could I bring my own horse? PM if interested :) xx
