Hi I'm new to this forum, I've browsed before but never posted anything so thought I would as this forum seems to be very helpful!!!
I am currently based in Royston and am looking for livery for my small mare. She is a very good doer and is also very quiet and is currently living out with another mare in foal and a yearling gelding, neither whom she has a problem with!
I am currently renting a field with two other people which is great but it's about 20 miles away from my house which is proving so much in petrol to be travelling every day!
I am looking for preferably DIY grazing (proving to be very difficult in this area). I know about all the big riding establishments in the area as I've lived here for many years and worked at most of them so was wondering if anyone knows of anything a bit more low key, such as a field off blahblah road in blahblah village that no one knows about/can't see from the road etc that people rent out.
I've been offered a field for £10 a week about 5 minutes from my house but my pony will be on her own and I'm not sure I want to be left on my own riding for safety reasons... If I were to fall they'd be no one to help, meanwhile pony could run into the road and get hit by a car!! Or if I was to take ill, they'd be no one that could help me out with the water. Plus it's awful riding out on your own all the time!!!
I am looking for somewhere with other ponies for company and preferably people to hack with. I don't need a fancy yard or a school and I would be willing to pay for a field and stable if it came as part of the package, if it meant that I could have her out 24/7 and just have the stable collecting dust. Please no suggestions of full or part livery as I can't afford it and my pony can't live in due to medical reasons (COPD)/legs filling, unless somewhere will allow me to keep her on rubber matting without any bedding as a vet has suggested but given livery yard's OCD nature about things I doubt this would be allowed without someone deeming me cruel...
Thanks for all constructive suggestions, I have tried all the main ones as I have said... Anywhere within about 5 miles of Royston or "on the way" to Cambridge as I reguarly commute to Cambridge City. (South Cambridgeshire would be ideal). I can see this forum is very helpful so I look forward to your replies...
Thanks, Emily.
