Some of you may know how awful my current yard is the only reason we are still there is because of the school and we were meant to be moving yards before the winter started but we couldn't as I have not passed my driving test yet.

Today has been the last straw though I am well and truly fed up with that place and we just want to get out of there as its just a vile place to be.

We would prefer and indoor school but and outdoor floodlit school would be fine must have turnout all year round and bitching to the minimum (although anywhere will be better then where we are) and DIY, possibly part livery depending on cost

We went to see a lovely yard a few months ago but is in Quedgley which is too far for us in the mornings. We live just outside of Gloucester but my parents work in Cheltenham and I go to college on Cheltenham so a yard there would be possible. Or a yard which is close to a bus stop so I could get a bus there.

We was thinking of Church Farm at Shurdington if anyone has info on this yard, good or bad? Or Witcombe Liveries, we kept our horses here years ago but left due to reasons I can't put here but under new management now so that may be a possibility.

Sorry for rant just totally fed up and can't find any yards suitable!

Just one little word of caution. You never know who is reading these threads so beware of your current YO or fellow liveries seeing it. It's not been unknown for people to be thrown off of yards as a result. Has happened to more than one person that I know.

That aside hope you find a new yard which ticks all the boxes and where you and your horse will be happy.

Ah, poor you i remember you posting ages ago about hating it there!!! Is there not any yards at all near you or is it they havnt got spaces? I must admit i ended up sacrificing facilities for a nicer less bitchy yard and actually its not as bad as i thought, we do have floodlit outdoor but really its far to small for the size of the yard and the fact the surface most the time is crappy (although have to say it hasnt frozen so there is an upside) but much happier there. Got loads of friends and have got quite a few competing now(nobody went out when i arrived) and i have no transport. I left a yard with 3 schools horsewaker people travling to shows all the time.

Anyway what im trying to say through all my rambling;) is that sometimes its worth overlooking not so good facilites for happiness.:)

Thanks for the warning, I'll be more careful in the future...

zoelouisem- The only thing I need is a school but near us we are the only one, there are also little yards with spaces which is a pain.

I guess the new aim now is to move in the spring probably won't be smart moving right now in the dead of winter

Ah i see, yer although keep looking alot of people tend to move around in winter so spaces may come available. What about slightly futher out on a part livery basis, youv probaly been through all this but then hopfully youll be driving and go back down to DIY.:)

We are on DIY now and prefer it as its cheaper but don't mind part livery if it means a different yard :p

Horses are too expensive not to enjoy them! :p
My routine atm is waking up early riding at stupid o'clock in the morning to avoid everyone or on a wednesday I ride at lunch time as its my day off then in the evenings headphones in, head down and smile at everyone when you really just want to smack the majority in the face :p

I can't suggest any yards as I'm not from your area but I just want to say, I know exactly how you feel. Have been at yards at the past which were horrible! I hope you find somewhere soon!

Not much help to you I'm afraid but as you know I was looking for Christmas livery in your area as have family near you, must have phoned 20 odd numbers and no one had space, I know mines a different situation but it does seem a very popular area with a shortage of livery spaces

Livery yards can be such a nightmare :( And you needs somewhere to enjoy your new boy.

In all seriousness I would highly recommend passing your driving test before you choose a new yard. It opens up SOOOOO many oppertunities and you could pass it before XMas is you put your mind to it. Until you've got a license (and a car obviously) you don't realise how resticting it is without one!
