My partner got a new truck and I didn't go and assist the choose. I said as long as it has a tow bar and can tow 2.5 ton. 🥴

He got a new Ford ranger and it has a detachable tow bar. This has the pin system. Does anyone tow with this?

Ford have said it can't be changed to a fixed one. Anyone can steal this tow bar, which means anyone can steal my trailer. You can get a lock bar but I want to use the one they manufactured it with.

Does anyone one else tow with this? 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I don't like the look of it but apparently it's fine and it's what they use in the US and Oz.
Is it worth (for peace of mind) asking the dealer to confirm in writing that it is safe for the towing of horses in a purpose built trailer, in the UK?
Or, you could ask the manufacturers of your trailer if this a suitable set up?
Would be worth getting confirmation.

Or get it changed to a fixed one. Software needs to be updated so not cheap but worth it for peace of mind. It may be safe to tow but as you say too easy to undo and bugger off with trailer. Ford are telling you porkies. Speak to a specialist tow bar company.

It's on lease so it can't be changed.

We don’t have that one but my husband bought a car that has a detachable tow bar and to be honest I was very against it but it’s actually been fine, I just never detach it!
