Devil Mare!!

Well the "lovely" mare i have been riding and was so desperate to buy has really shown her true colours tonight. I groomed, tacked up, got on and walked her down to the field. Once there i had to jump off to help friend and as i have done this a hundred times with her, she just went crazy!! Its lucky i was half way off because she just took off from underneath me!! I went to catch her and she came to me no problems. We went back to the field and she reared ,while someone was holding her, over and over again and attempted to trample my friend!! She has been naughty when ridden before but she has never done this when being held. I'm just glad i found out what shes like before i bought her. A few people have said that shes a death trap and someone has even said as far as they know she hasnt been broken!! I only agreed to ride her because her owner told me she had been broken. I am bit gutted because i really loved that mare but i suppose my health comes first lol

sounds bad, but thats mares, they all have their moments, including my mare, she was rearing with the farrier tonight because her mate was being ridden in the field next door. I didn't know about her being impossible to catch, rearing and bucking before i bought her....i still love her though

Mares! I love them but not everyone understands why!!!

If you are really keen on the mare could you not restart her and back/school her youself? Surely being unbroken will knock a few £££ off the price and you get the horse you love to work with and bring on yourself?

I knew that she had been a bit crazy before but it didnt put me off her one bit, but now different people (Some very experienced) have said not to buy her because she is actually dangerous. I'll still help out with her but all the tiny "blips" i have picked up on and ignored are becoming a bit much. Its a shame because she is beautiful but you know the saying, looks arent everything. I'm lucky that i have a wonderful friend who lets me ride her horse whenever i want!! She's a star!
