Afternoon all.

Not sure if any of you remember but I was having saddle drama's - well I think I have found light at the end of the tunnel and have ordered 2 devoucouxs. Also ordered girths, breastplates etc however he didnt have a bridle to show me so I didnt order one - does anyone have one ?? what are they like ?

Thank you

I have only ever seen one Devoucoux bridle and it was nothing special. Don't know what they charge for a full bridle but it will not be cheap (knowing how much the saddles/girths/kolibri are). Would think you would be able to get a very nice hand made to measure bridle of better quality for the same sort of money, if not less.

They are about £180 which I dont think is to bad - just paid more than that for a elevator but have sent it back as the quality of the leather was so poor.
Who does hand made to measure ?

Try Lisa Holmes at bespoke saddlery. If you contact her she will send you leather samples etc. and is very helpful, you even have a choice of what type of buckles you want. Lisa used to work as a fitter for Devoucoux and was trained by them to alter the panels on their saddles, she is very good.

Her website is www.bespokesaddlery.co.uk

Or you could contact K Lewis at the Tack and Saddle Workshop on 01296 688829, I have a devoucoux bridle and she has also made one which looks similar but actually fits my horse. Her bridlework is beautiful (she is a master saddler) she has won quite a few of the saddlery competitions at the society of master saddlers for her work. Very precise and her attention to detail is second to none, she specifically uses very good quality leather for her work. If you want any photos of her work e-mail her on klsaddlery@yahoo.co.uk.

I know someone that has got 3 devoucoux bridles of which I saw one on Monday.

It looks like a nice quality leather, the other thing I noticed was that it had a wide head piece that tappered back in on the section that fitted behind the ears.

Perhaps best if you see one 1st before you buy.

I personally quite like the Amerigo bridles but that's probably because I have an Amerigo event saddle!
