Came across this on another forum.

http://www.rvhr.com/ Two Socks, the horse at the top of the page is the one I'm talking about.

http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=221268

The poor thing lost a hoof, and they're keeping him alive and standing on this:

God, that poor horse must be in agony.

That is horrible. It's better to let a horse die with dignity than to keep it hanging onto life like that. How can they think this is right? I can't imagine a horse charity in this country prolonging the suffering of an animal like this.

Please say there is a section at teh bottom that says he sadly had to be PTS...........

I wish that there was.

that is not horse rescue..................

just seen it on FHOTD, I can understand sometimes it is not clear what side of the line a horse is on euth/not euth. I think this one is pretty clear though. that poor poor horse

So am I right in thinking that when this horse arrived at this "rescue" centre it looked like a normal horse? And now it has stepped out of its hoof and presumably because it is in such pain, as lost so much weight??

Surely this horse needs to be rescued from this rescue place, and PTS. I can't see how keeping this horse alive is in any way fair to it.

That is truely awful. I hope someone in the US manages to get them investigated for animal cruelty and have this poor old soul PTS

yes, it arrived ok in May, now has no hoof.

It has few teeth which haven't helped on the weight side but that is possible.
I would imagine horse has poss stopped eating, regardless even IF he were to grow another hoof he is obviously not getting the sort of nutrition required to create it and as other people have said on other forums if were to be treated should be at a vets supported in a swing, not stood with basic bandages or with his feet in a bucket of water.

The above links discusss which bone is which and the possible loss of one of the tendons which should be there but isn't

With that much exposed I cannot see how he is going to get a massive infection.

Ugh

'I have been emailing regarding this situation since Friday. SPCA has no investigative authority in VA. They have given me the run around directed to the Roanoke Animal Control. Guess what? The principles in this org are listed as animal control officers in that county!!!! (Franklin) Somehow I doubt anything will get done through them

Please email "Ann Church" <achurch@hsus.org> She is the director for the HSUS VA.'

Oh my god, that is horrendous. Poor horse.
How the hell does a horse step out of its hoof?
Praying that this poor boy gets PTS as soon as possible.

horse, I think can step out of its hoof due to severe laminitis/infection/quittor.

it is discussed on some of the hoofy forums I posted links to.

That horse needs to be pts immediately. Or last may. He looked so good when they got him and now he looks like he's been dragged back from the dead. Someone should sneak in and shoot him, and then find those stupid owners and put them out of their misery too.

Idiots.

thats made me cry, that poor poor animal, how any human can think it is fair to keep that horse alive needs help, the pain he must be going through on a day to day basis, im shocked he is even managing to stand

god i hope he is put out of his suffering soon

Still can't get over the fact that they think they're doing a good thing.

And I have a feeling that no vet has seen this poor horse.

They've taken down the pics of this horse - but look at the story of the mare called called 'Blair'. It was taken in, in 2003, and there's a pic of it in the present, and it's still skin and bone : (
