We've noticed that Bruno has started drinking a lot of water and is obviously weeing a lot more, but some times he doesn't seem to notice he's doing it! Will walk along and leave a little trail.
His behaviour is a little erratic too, sometimes he sleeps all day and then will go mental and then crash again. hes only young but its still not quite right.

There are other symptoms that made us wonder so mum (who is a nurse) borrowed some testing sticks and he did have some sugar in his wee. (When we finally got a sample :P!) He's booked into the vets to see whats happening properly but if it is Diabetes what else do I need to know?
What kind of food should he have (no snacks etc) but is there a specific food? Like to be forewarned that is all.

Other than that, he is a healthy, lively, well behaved young dog :)

I'm hoping for a UTI in all honesty (sounds bad but I don't mean it like that!) but if it is diabetes then so be it! Just change his lifestyle a little bit and ours come to that!

Booked in at the vets but will obviously get him in quicker if he gets worse.

I hope it's "just " a UTI but if it is diabetes, it can be managed, just as it is in people.
Our dog has been diabetic since October last year and we have learnt a lot about testing his pee (and catching it!) and we also test his blood ourselves as well as that gives much better information and is a lot cheaper than paying the vet to do it.
If he does have diabetes I would very strongly recommend the k9diabetes website which is full of useful and practical information.
Most people don't change their diabetic dog's diet by the way although vet advice seems to vary on this. The important thing is to have food that they will reliably eat so you can give the right amount of insulin and the two things will balance.
