Has anyone had any experience with diabetes in horses. My 11 year old gelding has been drinking lots and then, of course, been peeing lots. I know diabetes is linked with cushings syndrome, but thought that 11 years old was too young for this? I would be grateful if anyone who has had experience of this, would let me know how they dealt with it.

Diabetes in horses is rare, insulin resistence tends to go with cushings. There are other things that will cauae a horse to drink and pee lots, so I would advise calling your vet out soon.

I would think, given the symptoms you describe that horse has kidney infection or cystitus.
as said above, diabetes is very rare, almost unheard of

My horse tends to get an infection once every winter, no idea why, just gets them

easily fixed though with a course of antibiotics
